I'm running a Dell Dimension 4550, 1280 MB ram, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.53 GHz, Windows XP,

im looking for a cheap [less than 60$] graphics card because my current one (Geforce MX 420) makes my computer very slow, or atleast I think it does. Any game i play, even the simplest of games are slow and low FPS . So would this graphics card work with my system, or if theres a better way to fix it or a better card to buy, please tell me. Thanks.

It's not just the card, the whole system is very, very weak for playing games.
My advice is to get another box.
Look through the local papers, Craiglist or E-bay.
If you must upgrade you'll need more memory, but it uses DDR not DDR2 memory and can only handle 2X512Mb sticks, maximum.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that an AGP motherboard?

Does it have a PCI-E slot?

^^^It's AGP 4X.
With a 250Watt PSU (even if it is a Dell unit).

Fair upgrade, good reviews.
Otherwise look for a X1650 Pro, but check you have a spare floppy/Molex(large 4-pin) lead to power it.

Get a new computer. You have AGP. There is no such thing as an AGP Geforce 8600 GTS. And your computer is too ancient to be useful anyway.
