I am going to be hooking up 6 22" 1680x1050 monitors to 3 graphics cards that are not in crossfire, now I would like some comments on my build and anyway possible to improve on it.

Any improvements, suggestions, etc? I am going through Micro Center as its very close to where I live (North Jersey), if there is another hardware store in North Jersey with cheaper prices feel free to recommend. I also would love suggestions on the parts I choose.

I wouldn't use the CM 850W.

Corsair 850TX is less expensive and ships faster :) And much higher quality.

Of course, newegg has them for much less and ships to you in 3 days... so I don't see the Microcenter advantage on this item.

If you did get it from newegg, you would just order this though:

That's a very high quality PSU that only fits in certain Antec cases. Better than the Corsair even.

Yeah Microcenter is pretty much always more expensive then Newegg, but sometimes Microcenter has exclusive sales (like the $220 i7 920 and the i7 965 for $700, and you can ask for D0 stepping) and then it's much less. If I can go through newegg I will, but it's easier to pay in cash. If I do go through newegg I'll use that combo you suggested!

I honestly have nothing to say, the amount of stupidity that can come from one person is just wow. It's funny how you said I need 3 $40 mouse pads if I dont sli/crossfire... why can't three mice run on one mouse pad? (Oh and what you are thinking is completely wrong by the way) Well the reason I like having all the monitors is room. Oh and the reason for the gigantic mouse pad is I have this small $3 one and it pisses me off so much -.-.

Lol @ Proximon

Oh and Proximon I did this on newegg, its kind of retarded, for the same price I got much better graphics cards, power supply and ram. Oh and everything was generally cheaper. I am definitely going through newegg.

Hey Proximon, if prices end up dropping for these 4870s, I might get three of them, but I was reading a guru3d review and it said 3 cards would need over 850W. So will the Corsair 850W be able to power three of these cards?

SAPPHIRE TOXIC Radeon HD 4870 1GB

Thanks!

I can get this Antec 1000W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371012

With this combo if available

You can underclock the Toxic if you like, and it would pull less juice. Toxic fan profile can be adjusted to about 32% on my card and it's very quiet, and very cool. I've heard good things about HIS, sure, but I'm pretty confident about Toxic cooling.

The temps we are talking about are far under max temp, also.

I think the 850TX should run the 3 cards, but I do wonder if you need so much. How about two 4850X2s? One card for 4 monitors and one for two.

How about 1 4890 and 2x 4650?
With that combo you can easily drop your PSU to Corsair 650TX.

@Proximon
I was looking at that card when I wanted to pay less then $150, but I have completely forgotten about it. They are of good price and I am really considering them, but would one graphics card be able to power 4 monitors without ruining the quality? I would assume that the graphics card would have to split its power into the 4 monitors. Would it make a difference if I used the 2GB version?

@WR2
Well it feels weird mixing a $250 card and a $60, the 4650 looks pretty ugly, and I have a problem where I like everything to match..

I meant match as in be the same, like one 4890 and two 4650s don't look the same, I guess I'm kind of crazy =/. Udated first post with newegg links and different choices which I had on my comp.

I was under the impression that all the cards would have to be 4800 series to work together, but maybe I'm wrong.

The point that WR2 brings up is that not all monitors need the same performance. The only monitor that needs a 4870 is the monitor that is gaming.

If the 4 monitors are not used for gaming, the 4850X2 should work quite well.
