Hello,

I recently manual overclocked my i5 2500k to 4.6GHz, and it passed 15 rounds of Intel Burn test on standard, and 5 on high. It was doing okay then my computer took two tries every time to turn on. I reset my settings, and chose 'optimized CPU OC' setting and put it on 4.4 GHz, it passed 20 rounds of Intel Burn test on high, is this an okay overclock or should I go higher on this setting, or your opinion?

My idle temps are 30deg. during 4.4GHz it is in the range of 47-High 50s

ASRock p67 Extreme4
i5 2500k
Antec Earth Watts 650w
XFX 6950 HD 2gb unlocked shaders
Cooler Master Hyper 212 +
Cooler Master HAF 922
Corsair Vengeance Blue 8gb DDR3

Thanks

Did you also check the RAM for faults? I recommed memtest86+.

When you say "during 4.4GHz it is in the range of 47-High 50s" do you mean during load? Did you turn of power saving features like EIST or whatnot? Your idle temperature shouldn't budge if you have the power saving features on, even if you reach 5 GHz. Check if the motherboard is automatically raising voltages for you. I know my mobo does that when overclocking, so I left my CPU on stock for now.

During Intel burn test with 4.4GHz my temps go to 47- 50s but idle it is 25-35
Should I use the pre oc setting to 4.4GHz? It passed the tests, I will try the memtest but it does seem okay
