i just purchased an hp dvd-rw drive to put into my desktop system(dell). i have gone into the bios and set both 2ndary drives for the dvd and current cd drives. i placed jumper of cd drive as 2ndary slave. i also have a convertor for the pata to sata, but dont't recall if there are any jumpers on it. they( dvd and cd dirves) aren't recognized when my computer boots up. am i missing something?

my bios is set up as:
pri master: hdd
pri slave: empty
2nd master: unknown device ( my dvd drive connected to the drive 0 connector)
2nd slave: unknown device (cd drive set with pins on slave)

just checked to make sure the connectons are secure and they are.
