Really slow harddrive

Hi
My HDD (320gb sata 3-4years old) start (about week ago) working REALLY slow (r/w: <300kb/s)
I did complet system restore, defragment it, and its still slow as hell

When I tried to run something from my external disk its working fine so I`m pretty sure that problem is in HDD, is there something that I can do with it, or its time for new HDD

also is there a way how to transfer windows to new HDD because this PC came with preinstaled windows without CD
(or rather if I do complet system restore again can I somehow choose to which HDD will be windows instaled?)

Your drive controller may have switched from DMA to PIO mode. Go into the device manager, right-click and select properties on the drive controller. Under the advanced settings tab you will want to set it to use DMA. If it's grayed out or it won't let you switch to DMA mode, you can delete the controller from the device manager, then reboot. It will detect and reinstall the controller in the device manager.

Your drive may possibly be failing. Just in case it is, do the following:
1) Make sure that it is backed up!
2) Download the manufacturer's test tool and test the drive

The problem may not actually be a failing drive, but why take the risk?
