hi guys i need a little bit of help here. I recently bought a HIS RAdeon 4890 for my Gateway 4200 09 (Phenom X4 1.8ghz). I installed it yesterday and it barely fitted on my small case. I also bought a Corsair TX650W PSU and had no problem. But now my GPU is being bottlenecked by my "slow" CPU so i'm gonna buy a new CPU, and a mobo since i own a 780g mobo. I think I'll get the 790X mobo since it has no GPU and I want to know if it will handle my "old" RAM DDR2 or if i should get a DDR3. (I read DDR3 is getting cheaper and i should use it). I also need to know what Case size do I need for my new GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard to fit in. is it full ATX? mid ATX? :s I'm buying from newegg.com
please help.
I want my new CPU to be a Phenom II x4 940 3 GHz
The Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P is a full ATX motherboard. If you already have DDR2 in your current system, stick with the GA-MA790X-UD4P. There no point in spending more for newer RAM, if your current RAM will work with the rest of the new parts.
