Hi to everybody... Here's my problem:

I only score 4000marks (in SM2.0 / 3.0) with the 9600gt, I belive that my cpu is bottlenecking the vga.
The CPU is working with stock clock (2.6GHZ), and I want to make an OC to it, but I can't find the way with the M3N78-VM mobo...

What do you think?

Thanks :)

I know, but I've seen benchs of 8000marks! (talking only SM2.0 tests)

Thanks...

I am unfamiliar with your board, and its OC abilities, but I can tell you that with my system (in the sig), I am able to maintain a very stable 3.1ghz OC with it undervolted by .025 on stock air, very very low temps. Temps were only becoming a problem for absolute stability once I was passing 3.35ghz. It is tricky, especially for me, since it is the first OC i have attempted in just about 6 years, and I don't have the unlocked multiplier BE edition, either.

NB multiplier set to 8x, HT @ 1600, FSB set to 239, ram set to 4.oo multiplier and 2.0v (956mhz on 1066 rated ram, you may need to try 3.33/2.66 and lower volts if you are using lower rated ram) and I have a prime95 12h no error stable OC at 3.1ghz. Every chip and Mobo are different and require patient and willing trial and error with the locked multiplier, but if any of this can help you, glad to share.

I just give a little overclock to the CPU (200mhz), and the score is exactly the same...

So the CPU isn't bottlenecking the GPU, but is that score normal? I compare that to others marks of the 9600GT and it's only the half!

Mine:

SM 2.0 Score 4263
SM 3.0 Score 3967

Others:

SM 2.0 Score 9238
SM 3.0 Score 8934

the application is the bottleneck..

check out GTA 4, WOW, CRYSIS.. others are gpu bound or are more cpu bound..

Zapato, here are some benchmarks from the workshop:

E8400 + 9600GT512
SM2.0 4,743
SM3.0 4,495

E7200 + 9600GT512
SM2.0 4,582
SM3.0 4,327

E4600 + 9600GT512
SM2.0 4,270
SM3.0 4,130

PII X4 940 + 9600GT512 silent heat pipe
SM2.0 5,325
SM3.0 3,882

The E7200 and E4600 are close to your cpu speed, just a bit under, and scoring in the 4,100 to 4,500 range.

You mention an overclock to improve things. Note the E8400 result (3GHz). The gains, at least using this benchmark and the 9600GT, aren't huge.

I'd say your results are normal.
