I tried to upgrade my CPU to a Intel E7500 core 2 duo.

When i put the new CPU in and power up i get no video display.

Fans are running and everything seems normal except no video.

when i swapped back to the original chip (E6600) everything worked properly.

This leads me to believe the problem is with either the new CPU or my installation. since this is my first install i cant rule out that i just am not doing something right.

MB: Dell OWG855
CPU: E7500 core 2
GPU: PNY 8800 GTS 320mb
RAM: 3G crucial
OS: vista home 32

As far as I know the XPS410/D9200 isn't compatible with the E7xxx series chips, best you could do would be the "E" or "Q" 6700.
Return the E7500 if you can and then Google Clockgen, you may be able to overclock the E6600 to 2.8 depending on the PLL chip on your board.

That would be a great quick fix if i could get around how to OC the dell MB. Everything i have read says the stock MB's can't be OC'd

For the most part they can't be overclocked, but the Clockgen software did work for 2 of the 6 systems I once owned.
