I had a 3110CT years ago. Love it. Sold it. Missed it. Just bought a
used one off eBay. Glad to have one again. My questions are:

Is there a good set of "schematics" available for these units. So far as I
can tell, Toshiba has lots of downloads and service bulletins for the 3110CT
on their site but no user manual or schematics. I got the thing running
instantly and did a clean install of Windows 2000 (my o/s of choice) but I'd
like to know more about the unit.

The cover of the unit I bought has some discoloration caused by (I think)
stickers being on the cover for very long periods of time. In other words,
the cover (which is metallic I believe although I don't know for sure) is
uniformly lighter in color where the stickers were than the remainder of the
cover. I've been over the cover with a household cleaner and it's not
simply grime. I think it's discoloration. Any idea on how I might safely
buff up the cover to make it more uniform in color?

In case the answer to this question isn't "schematics", I'm likely to try to
change out the hard drive for a larger one. I've never tried such a thing.
Any sites or other references that would help improve the chance of success
for this project?

TIA -- WC

This topic has been discussed here recently. Schematics are not made
available for these devices. Service manuals will show you how to get
subassemblies apart, and that's about it.

The user manual should be available from Toshiba in an online
hypertext kind of format (very horrid to read, IMHO, but it's all in
there). It is for all the other Toshibas I've been through.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, there does NOT seem to be a user
guide for the 3110CT listed on the Toshiba support web site. 51 downloads
and 101 support bulletins, but the "User Guide" tab is grayed out,
indicating not available. I, too, found that manuals/guides were available
for most Porteges. Now it seems I'm stuck.

I did not find a thread to a discussion of this issue while searching
newsgroups. Maybe I used the wrong search terms. If you could direct me to
what's been said I'd be appreciative. I'll look again on my own as well.
Thanks -- WC

You might want to take a closer look at those 51 downloads. You'll find a
user guide and a user guide supplement for windows nt there. Also a couple
of modem guides.

Good Luck,
gray
