Still no sign of a multi-burner for our T40/41s yet (although one is coming
with the T42!), but IBM has released a new Ultrabay Slim 24X CD-RW to
replace the previous 16X burner.
"ThinkPad CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo II Ultrabay Slim Drive":
For those considering purchasing a burner for their machine, be aware that
IBM is still offering the _old_ 16X/10X/24X/8X drive for the same $199 as
the new 24X/24X/24X/8X drive, so be sure you've selected the correct one at
checkout.
Got one last night and was pleased to note that it came with FREE shipping,
although you still have to pay your local sales tax.
For those who have noticed a sudden infusion of 16X Ultrabay Slim burners on
eBay, this new drive is the reason!
If ANYONE knows of someplace to get a Panasonic UJ-812 multi-burner, or a
similar offering from another manufacturer, please share it with us. I've
checked all of the "usual" OEM suppliers with no luck to date. It's been six
months since the drive was announced by Panasonic, yet as far as I can
determine no one's actually seen one yet!

Where'd you get info on the T42?

Did such a secret source include a release date and updated features list?
;-)

Did you know there were T30 and T40 tanks, too? They were pretty good
tanks, too - didn't freeze up in the Russian Winter, which was a big
advantage over the german tanks.
