Computer sleeps when phone rings

G'day all,

My mates computer occasionally goes into sleep mode when their land-line phone rings. It doesn't happen every time but it does happen a bit. I know that they've got a filter installed (it's a wall mounted thing that the phone sits on so it's not easily replaceable), and they have Windows XP.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this to occur?

Rather unique situation, I would say, seeing that it is sporadic, and not happening on a regular basis. Anything else on that line, like a FAX ?
Might want to replace the filter on the line.

Nope, just the land line phone. They've got another phone in the master bedroom, but I don't know if it has a filter or not. I thought it might be the filter, but I couldn't replace it with a conventional one as it was built onto the wall. Their son is an electrician so I'll get him to have a look at replacing it.
