Hey,
My close friends computer stopped working yesterday and so today we did some tests and found out that his PSU was fried. I lent him my extra 580W psu for the time being. We went ahead, installed it, plugged it in then just powered it up. It powered up fine, the mobo light was on, posted all nice and what not. He took it home and plugged it in, and he was having a "Disk Boot Failure"...so its not reading his hard drive. I was wondering what this could be from, because like just yesterday before the PSU died, it was working fine, unless the PSU going kaboom was the issue...I'm not sure
Here's hoping your friend's PSU didn't take the hard drive with it. Easiest way would be to pull out the hard drive and plug it into another system. If the BIOS can't find it, it's likely fried.
