Does this processor overclock resonably well, or seeing how it is really a quad core in disguise it won't be able to overclock much. As dual cores should overclock much more?

on stock voltage? With the phenom II x2 550. is it possible to overclock it over 5ghz on increased voltages. Yes good cooling etc. Not that i want to just that i'm curious and want to know how good it is.

It's a black edition = unlocked multiplier..As for a mobo if using DDR2 consider the Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-UD5P,nice comes with 2x16 pci-e..:)

the 550? Wow. it's really cheap as well just a bit more than the athlon 5000+ Does that mean that it is very competative with Intel Dual Core plus, it is almost as good as the e8400 in performance.

Not to burst your bubble, but 3.8Ghz is with voltage increase to 1.425V (got the overclock from xbitlabs). There's no way Phenom II X2 550 can hit 5Ghz unless with LN2 cooling and suicidal voltage bumps.

ive seen a 550 hit 4.0 on 1.45v stock voltage might get you to 3.6-3.7, but i hope you plan to cool this thing with the best in the biz, ccf, spire thermax ii, coolit domino, corsair h50 etc
