BUT the video card ,, the 8800gt ,, can draw 200+watts all by itself,I also am only running 1hdd a measly 2g of ram dvd etc,Plus if and when you upgrade in the future you will know that you have a reliable psu not needing replacement,,your choice..:)

For what it is worth ,,not to long ago I read an article here on Tom's that indicated that the 8800gt would run better [no bottlenecking] with at least a 2.6ghz cpu, anyhow try with what you have got if it works, watch the temps and fps, fine if not well then,,,,.:)

yer i no i need to upgrade the psu..but i just want to no if my curent sig will run it okay as i dont have the cash to purchase a new psu atm :S and i dont want to kill my computer alltogether either lol

According to your link, the 480 puts out 300W total on the 12V rail. This comes to 25A. A system with the 8800GT needs around 22A, so your ok. I don't remember how good "Hec" is right now, you might want to worry about how well it will hold up over time so close to its max output. I would say your probably safe.

Were you trying to pull is leg? You don't honestly believe that do you? I believe the draw is around 8-10A, so thats 120W max.

:heink: 75w from the PCIe slot + 75w from the PCIe lead = 150w, where does the other 50w come from?, subspace?, stop with the fud. An 8800GT uses 115w, need some proof look here.

The Extreme PSU calculator shows that at most the system would pull 324 watts, with 20.1 A on the 12v rail, so you'll be good to go.

No offense intended. I was confused because I answered your question, and you said you were still confused. I gave you the power (in amps) of your 12v rail (25), how much draw a system with an 8800Gt needs (~22A) and said "so your ok". I'm not sure whats to be confused about.
