Dell Inspiron 9300 won't see hard drive

Forum Storage : Hard Drives Dell Inspiron 9300 won't see hard drive

I added a new hard drive to my dell inspiron 9300. The bios does not detect the drive. I can't even load an OS on it. I've tried a WD 320 (ide) didn't work. Replace the drive the system came with and it still didn't see the hard drive. Any one experience this?

Welcome to Tom's Hardware...

  • Have you verified the new IDE's pins aren't set to Slave instead of Master?
  • Have you verified everything is plugged in correctly & firmly?
  • Do you have a second cable to try to rule out a defective cable?
