I have a phenom ii x4 965 BE currently overclocked to 3.87 ghz @ 1.4v. The cpu idles at about 38-40c and climbs as high as 60c at full loads. I have the Cooler Master Hyper 212+, and I also have a lot of fans installed in the case. Here is my current fan setup:

2 200mm fans on the top for exhaust
1 120mm rear fan for exhaust
1 200mm fan on the side for intake (it's pointing directly at the cpu heatsink)
1 140mm fan in the front of the case for intake

Also the heatsink is pointing up with the cpu fan blowing upwards towards the two exhaust fans. Honestly, this does not seem to me like this cpu should be running this hot. My only option left is to upgrade the heatsink. Will it really make that much of a difference?

60c at full load for a Phenom II X4 965 isn't that bad, it's actually fairly good, although the new heatsink is still a good idea. My only other recommendation would be to see if you can try to work your voltage down some.

^^
A new heat is really not a good idea as the op should change his tim 1st. If you search on the net, the cooler that the op's using is fairly good with phenom users hitting 4ghz.

Yeah, you're right, the OP Hyper 212+ doesn't need to be replaced. I must have thought he was wanting to upgrade to the 212+ from something else. That's what you get for posting late at night after a long day i guess.
