Over-clocking the Phenom II x2 555

So i bought a 555 with the MSI 870-G45 Mobo hoping to unlock it to a quad or tri but no luck seems as if both of the extra cores are no good so instead i have it over-clocked to 4.00 GHZ from 3.2 GHZ on stock cooling... Here is the question after a stress test using prime95 the cpu temp maxed out at 55c is this too high? I plan on getting an after-market cpu cooler soon.

Also to get the 4.0 GHZ i used 200 x20 at 1.4v its stable but is that the right way of doing it.

Sorry if i am asking stupid ?'s but this is my first time ever over-clocking

Thanks so much to those who can help me!

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

55ºC looks very good for the stock cooler. How long you ran prim95?

10 Min

10 minutest aren't even near to the required for know the max temp. Test it for 30 minutes or more.

Run Prime95 for at least an hour. I'm running my 555 @ 4.0Ghz @ 1.4v. Running at 35 idle, 55 full load. It's capable of 4.2-4.4, but I wasn't too comfortable with the temps on that dinky stock heatsink. That TJMax is small unless you have a good heatsink.
