Hello, I have a Samsung SpinPoint F1 500 GB HDD installed on my PC and the OS (Windows 7) is reporting a SMART error, "HDD is about to fail please backup HDD". I have backed up the HDD but the HDD has still not failed. Its been a month since I first recieved this error. Should I replace this HDD and how do i detect what the actual problem is with the HDD that Windows 7 is reporting.

You can try running the Samsung HUTIL or get a program that can read the SMART values, like HDTune.
Check which attributes are out of spec. Wikipedia has a good SMART attribute chart.
