How hot should a CRT monitor get? My monitor is unbelievably hot on the top but towards the back. The monitor is about 5 years old and I'm wondering if I should get a new one. It's a Micron monitor 17 inch. Any help would be great!!

Unbelievably hot is hard to measure.

If it ain't melting or if your hand isn't blistered, you're probably alright. Monitors produce a lot of heat, but not "unbelievable" heat.

If that's an excuse to get a new monitor, by all means. Five years a long time anyways.

Quality is better than name brand, even regarding beloved AMD.

Ok, maybe I exagerated a little. I can hold my hand there but if it were about 10 degrees hotter I probably wouldn't be able to. I guess I've never felt a monitor that hot before. Maybe I'll just wait then.
