1st build
-1 mobo: AM2 with PCIex16 1.0 and HT 2.0
-1 PSU
-1 GPU: fine perhaps for 1280 x 1024 gaming

2nd build
get better PSU
consider HD4870/4890

Alternative suggestion for gaming rig:
1.Better GPU *or* if funds too tight hang on to that integrated HD3300 video until u have more funds to get a proper discrete GPU?
2. Better PSU
3. Move straight to AM3/DDR3
$574.93 with ship less MIR

Save up and either go for Batuchka's recommendation or any other recommendation having to do with a Phenom II....it will be well worth the extra time spent saving up ;)

Yes it does look good, but right now I am restricted to my mother's funds. I'm having trouble looking for systems in the 300-400 USD range. Unfortunately, I am an NJ resident so I am subject to taxes by newegg.

I'm not sure what to look for in terms of computer parts in that range that I can easily upgrade.

What we are looking to do is transplant her HD into my computer and add an additional HD and build myself a new system with my current hard drives. Help compiling a list of mid-range parts(300-400 USD) would be optimal. Thanks.

the radeon 3300 hd can't be worse than my x800, can it? What should I look for in a case? Do you think I need additional cooling? I'm looking at the combo you put together. Pretty nice!! It's currently around $375 if I can get it to ship somewhere outside of NJ...(taxes)
