I am overwhelmed trying to find the best NAS that integrates with Ipad/Iphone over the internet for file access and streaming.
Looking for a 1TB to 2TB solution...RAID not required.
Looking for $400 or less.

What NAS is the best for:
1) Streaming live music to Ipad/Iphone...does it use Itunes or other player on device?
2) At home as an ITunes Server.
3) EASY included Remote Access to files on NAS when traveling anywhere with Ipad, Iphone, or a laptop.
4) FAST Ethernet Gigabit performance. Don't need a slow piece of junk.
5) QUIET operation.
6) EASY to use.
7) Able to backup NAS data to another drive (through USB or Network).
8) Best Warranty.

Please help!!!! and share ALL of your experiences on the above items with as much detail as possible.

I use a Netgear NV+ been using it for over 3 years and warranty support has been great. It provides an iTunes server but whether that provides iPhone / iPad streaming I don't know. It came with Seagate 7200.12 drives ...... ones I have bought since I bought "diskless" and added the 7200.12's The Seagates are a great choice for a small NAS as they have by far the best low heat and low noise performance among competitive drives. I generally add them myself because:

a) It's generally cheaper to buy separately
b) Getting them with 1 drive and buying a 2nd to set up the RAID 1, how do ya know ya always gonna get the same drive ?

Here's what I am using ($330 + Hard drives)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It says:

Quote:
you can use your ReadyNAS for streaming to multiple devices at the same time. ReadyNAS also provides DLNA Certified media streaming to a wide variety of digital media devices (such as NETGEAR EVA products or Microsoft Xbox 360™).

Buy it w/ 2 TB drives for $531
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Buy two 1 TB drives for $130
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

$130 + $330 = $460, so save $90 installing the two drives yaself (3 minutes effort)

The NETGEAR MS2000-100NAS Home Media Network Storage device ($99)does say you can stream directly to your iPhone but to do it "anywhere" from what I gather you have to sign up for the Stora Premium Service

This one misses ya budget limit by $10

OK look at this $99.00 NAS

Here is what it covers

1 - It's a GbE connection, but you dont need Gb to stream audio/video for iPHONE iPAD stream, cuz it needs very low bandwidth
2 - Built-in iTUNE server
3 - If you don't have a static IP address, get (free) DynDNS service - (free) this will track your IP address then you can access it
4 - See # 1 - but you won't get 700Mb/sec
5 - Yes it is
6 - It's not a can opener, it involve set up SMB and NFS, IP address... so there is a bit of network knowledge req'd
7 - 2x USB ports for backup or/and Print Server
8 - $99.00 wont give you 3 yrs warranty :-) j/k

I've been looking for something very similar. Currently leading the pack in my research is the Synology DS211j. The price is right ($209 w/o drives), it has mobile apps for iOS / Android streaming and every review I've seen looks good. Have you come across anything that looks better, or bought anything that you're happy with?
