Hey all,

I'm new here but it seems like a great place to post a question. I've got an older Dell XPS 600. Dell support tells me I have a "NVIDIA C19 / CK804" motherboard and from some of my research this appears to be the correct MoBo that came with XPS 600 systems.

Right now, there's a Pentium D 380 3ghz CPU in it (Smithfield). I'm wondering what's the best CPU I could upgrade on this MoBo? I can't seem to find the specs. for it and given it's a Dell, it doesn't seem to be easy to find.

Cheers!

Pentium D 380? dont you mean 830?

If it has that then its a 99% chance thats the only CPU's to fit it being a first gen Pentium D motherboard, and i believe nvidia chipsets were also flawed (or was it thanks to intel) and couldnt jump to a newer cpu design etc reguardless and needed a re-design....

Dump it - time for a new rig

Yes, 830, sorry. Transposed those numbers.

I think it might be one of the few CPU's that fit this board. I'd like to dump it - but the funds are there atm. But thanks for the help.
