I'm a relative expert, but I am stumped. On my slaved drive, all .exe programs display the old "dos" type icon, and when I run them, a dos screen flashes for a second and disappears. programs on my main drive work fine.

I had virus issues on my computer, but have cleaned then up, run every program in the book (spybot, malwarebytes, stinger, etc etc, combofix, etc), have tried registry patches, but nothing. Cannot make the programs run, and cannot find any info about why this is.

As well, I can't open any data from the drive. I see all the files, but all of them give me errors. What's going on?

Also reset the file associations for all files.. there is a fix around that can fix all file associations but I can't seem to remember the name or download site, but you can find a fix for individual filetype associations in the Doug Knox website, including the .exe file association fix.
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm you can also find other filetype association fixers for you other files in the drive.
