Uhhh thats WAAAAY to much on the psu....and ditch the dual core...and do you have a 7.1 surround sound system? if not there is no reason to get a dedicated card imo...especially not for 100$..

If i where you i would opt for an amd quad core build with the 940be or 955 and pair that with a single 4770 to start out with...later on you can xfire with another 4770 and have one hell of a system...way better than a dual core system......waaaaaaaay better

Your build isn't bad....if it was 2006, and not 2009...lol...j/k...but ya it could use some help. First off those Nvidea chipset boards blow, and the 9800gtx+ has been remade/replaced by the newer gts 250 cards which run cooler, only use one PCI-E adapter, they don't use as much juice, they aren't as long, and they scale better in newer games than the 9800gtx+. As the other poster mentioned, your psu is major over kill, and what's with the 8 gigs of RAM for a gaming rig ? Also on board sound these days has come a long ways so I would hold off on the sound card at first to see if you notice any difference. Now if you go up to the WD Black 640 gig HD, you get a much quicker HD for only a few dollars more.

I'l post a decent build that allows you to run SLI later on if you so choose, and then I will post a Crossfire option also.

ok SLI is OVERKILL FOR 1440 x 900 unless you are going on 1920 x 1080 TVs or monitors

so i would drop the SLI or CROSSFIRE in the future. no need for it.

so i would get ether a GTX 260 or 4850 or maybe 4870

also no need to have 8 GBs of ram just yet there is no diffrence in gamming with 3 to 8. they did a memory test here on toms hardware there was no diffrence in gamming at all if you have 3gbs of ram all the way to 8. but if you had 2gbs of ram you would see a difference of performance lost.

you could probally get away with building a Nehalem I7

Like i said SLI/Crossfire is a waste for 1440x900 but all you need is one good video card 4850X2 will wipe the floor agianst all most single cards for this price range in all games at 1080P even beats out the GTX 280 a lot as well. but if you are skeptical about getting this card becasue its 2 GPUs on one card and driver issues. you could get a GTX 280 but it will be a lil slower but you wont have to worrie about driver issues as much

i own this and i have my Q6600 OCed to 3.6 i usually idle around 36-43 depends on ambient temperature in the room its cool in my room rate now. load temps are usually around 58-55. on a hot day it will hit 60.
