Restart your computer and before the Windows logo appears press F8 key and select 'Safe Mode'.
Now when you boot into Safe Mode, you will see 2 user accounts, one will be your user account and one will be 'Administrator'.
Log-in using 'Administrator' account. After log-in, open Windows Control Panel and select 'User Accounts'.
In User Accounts, select your real user account, and you will see a list of options - select 'Remove the password' from the list of options.
Now you can create a new password.
This will only work for Windows XP.
It's a long time since I tried it, so if there are any problems respond back.

How do you know this guy is legit ? It is ok to help people, but we just don't provide that type of info, for the reason stated.
Providing? If that guy is really a hacker or someone doing wrong, then telling you - just search the web and you can find 1000+ videos not only telling this trick but also showing it. That's a basic thing each and every hacker knows - and some Windows novices too.
And Please stop full-quoting on the Forums. That wastes a lot of webpage space.
