Hi all,

I just ordered the crucial c300 64gb SSD and wanted your opinion on this drive. I saw some reviews and it seems that it is faster than same category's SSD. Does anybody have any experience with this drive? Thanks!

From what ive heard its better than most because it has higher iops although with the exception of the 256gb model, all the other c300 models suffer from slightly slower write speeds, but that shouldnt be a big deal. The only down side to this is that the c300 line tends to use a lot more power compared to most ssd, which is you plan on using it in your laptop could decrease your battery life.

It's no longer the 'big dog" having been surpassed by the Corsair performance 3's. The Corsairs are the same thing really as the Crucial's just w/ updated firmware.

The 64 GB models write at 75 Mbps; 128's do 140; and the 256's hit 215.

By comparison, the Vertex 2's write at 275.

So on straight reads (loading stuff), the C300 will do better .... for swap files, temp files and scratch disk usage, the Sandforce jobs are the way to go.

The 'new' Marvell controlled corsair p3 and the soon to be out c400 seem to be the new 'top dogs'. However, I'm happy to see that somebody else noticed the power consumption. 1 watt at idle? 3.5w when used? Those nands must be spinnin up a storm. Slap a heat sink on that baby.
