How to downgrade my asus rampage I I bios

You can easily kill your motherboard if you do this wrong. If you dont understand it you should not do it.

Why exactly would you want to flash to an older BIOS anyway? Flashing BIOS is really not necessary unless you have a problem that a newer version fixes.....there is really no reason to use an older version.

This is really computing 101. Its made easier today with Windows based utilities. However these utilities are no where near as safe as a floppy. As I said before if something goes wrong you have a nice dead motherboard. If you cant make a bootable floppy you probably shouldnt be fooling around with different BIOS versions anyway.

BIOS is hardware BTW. Its how you talk to your hardware.

^Perfect advice there, your BIOS is one of those things..."if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The only reason to upgrade a BIOS is if you installed new hardware, like a CPU, that an update is needed to support it, or if a version has been released to fix a known problem. Other than that, there is no reason at all what so ever to upgrade your BIOS.
And beyond that, there is no reason to downgrade it either. Unless you have flashed it with a newer BIOS and suddenly you have problems.
So exactly what is it that makes you think you need to mess with your BIOS?
As stated, one little slipup during the updating process, and *poof*, you are now the proud owner of a dead motherboard.

Well I have been updating my bios whenever new ones come out but I didn't know I should only do it if I have a problem but I updated my bios from version to another and now windows and the bios doesen't show all my memory after overclocking
I have 6gb's and it shows 4gb after any type of overclcoking it will show all 6gb at stock mbsettinngs my motherboard is a asus rampage I I x58 I want to go from bios 1639 back to bios 1406 hopefully that will fix the problem or I will get a replacement from asus
Thank you.

I am really not sure whats causing that. I dont have i7 and I generally use Gigabyte boards.

I am not sure that is caused by a BIOS problem honestly.

What I would do if I was you is repost in either the Memory section or Asus MB section of the forums with the same info as is in your last 2 posts including the BIOS versions and the screen shot. More people will read the post that way and I bet someone with the same board can tell you exactly what to do.

Good luck.
