I shopped for one for about a week a while back, and all major ones seem to have their up and downs, yet average out.

-Asus Xonar DX ($110) (music/movies, but emulates EAX5 for gaming)
-X-fi Titanium ($100) (Gaming bias, but it sounds good with everything. I haven't heard the Xonar though)
-Auzentech x-plosion ($100) (No EAX5 support, but plays back great, so say the reviews anyway)

Close your eyes and pick one I guess. I went for the X-Fi because they didn't have any Xonars in stock and I'm happy with it.

If price isn't an option, the Asus Xonar Essence STX has an headphone amp;
