I'm having a new computer built, containing a WD WD1002FAEX 1-TB drive, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I mentioned to the salesman that I wanted a few partitions set up. He told me that setting up any partitions would compromise the performance of the drive. He didn't give any reason, and the conversation moved on.
I can see many reasons for breaking up such a large drive. For example, optimization.
Is there any reason why I should not break up the drive into a few reasonable-size partitions?
