I formatted my hard drive on another windows xp computer and when i wanted to re-install windows xp on my computer it did not recongise the dvd, only looked for a floppy to read. Floppy drive not on the system. what can i do?

I would check if you reconnected all the cables correctly. What motherboard, power supply, hard drive and DVD do you have. What types of drives are you using SATA and or IDE? Can you see the DVD drive in the BIOS, if you can did you set it as first in the boot order? We really need more information.

If this is an older computer then some BIOS's will only boot from the CD drive connected to the Secondary master IDE drive.
