Hi Folks

I'm almost finished buying my new system, however I'm worried that I won't be able to get my motherboard to post. I know I need the 1003 bios for the AMD 965 125W processor and what are my options if I need to update the bios. Easy Flash 2 is pretty much useless if the processor is not supported without a bois update, right? Should I:

1. Buy a cheap processor (what is the cheapest this board will support?)
2. Send the board to ASUS (will they update the bios under warranty?)
3. Replace the bios chip (is this possible?--Is it soldered in?)
4. Buy a Gigabyte or MSI board

Or other possibility? Thanks

My System when built:

AMD 965 C3 125 watt
8 gig OCZ Platinum 1.65 volt AMD edition Cl-7
MSI 4890 OC with Zalman cooling (buying a second)
Zalman CNPS 9700 NT
WD Velociraptor 300 Gb
HT Omega Claro+
Corsair 850TX (may trade for the 850HX)
Antec 900

Thanks for the reply I got this from Asus' website:

"Phenom IIX4 965 (HDZ965FBK4DGM),3.4GHz,125W,rev.C3,SocketAM3,Quad-Core ALL Since Bios: 1003
If your motherboard BIOS version number is greater than the BIOS version listed above, then you will not need to flash your BIOS. However, if your BIOS version is smaller than the version listed above, then you will need to select and download the latest BIOS to update your system. "

This is confusing since it describes motherboard bios versions above and below the listed version but not the version itself. Maybe they meant [greater than OR EQUAL TO].

It still seems to me that I still have to hope and pray that I get a board with at least the 1003 bios.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Hi

i recently purchased an Asus Crosshair III Formula(revision 1.01g) from
www.microdirect.co.uk on November 20th 2009, i'm going to be purchasing a Phenom
II X4 965 rev.C3. I really need to know what the BIOS version is that comes with the
revision 1.01g on this motherboard?, as i've read it will not flash with that cpu if the bios version is below 1003, i have no cpu to substitute if the bios isnt 1003 and will not flash.

Thanks, any reply's or an answer is much apreciated.

Kyle

EDIT: After no replies i went ahead and bought the 965c3 anyways and it did flash with BIOS 0903 so i flashed to the latest BIOS (1301) but i still get a CHECKCPU on the LCD Poster at Boot so i think its a Flaw in the lcd poster because the 965c3 wasnt supported up until version 1003.

Everything is up and running. Booted up fine without a hitch except I had to load the flash bios on a CD and install it, for some reason it would not recognize my USB drive. So , no worries.
