Computer will not load past welcome screen

Hello,
hi just wandering what the issue is with my pc. i swich it on and it does not pick up my keyboard i have tried both USB and PS2 port keyboards but none respond.i have entered my XP home disk in order to try bood from CD to run repair but as my Keyboard does not respend i cannot push any key to BOOT FROM CD. please help me i need my PC for my studies.kind regards ray

Hi Ps2 keyboards need to be plugged into the computer before you turn it on. Go into bios(pressF2 when switching on) and check that Enable legacy usb is on. you should be able to use the keyboard before it starts windows). Also try another usb keyboard as it may be faulty
