Howdy everyone! I have put together a new computer probably about 3 months ago and I have to say, something is not working in synergy in my build or I am being bottlenecked by something. I have been getting pretty bad frames in both WoW (Shadows off as well), CoD 4, and on occassion L4D. The build I am using is:
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1333C9
1000 Watt Antec PSU
My proccessor right now is not OC because when I installed my new heat sink I probably didn't install it correctly because my idle temps are at like 45 and I just haven't felt like taking my entire computer apart again to fix it. If anyone can point out little problems or assist me in anyway it would be most appreciated.
you never mention anything tangable...only that you are seeing pretty bad framerates. what framerates? what resolution? that a pretty good build, but without more specifics, don't know if you'll get much good advice. If you had some synthetic benchmarks like 3dMark06 or fps so we have something to compare we could help more.
what I can say...45 isn't that bad of a temp, but make sure that you used just the amount of thermal paste you should have when installing the heatsink. Most common problems occur from too much thermal paste than too little.
I just ran the benchmark and for some reason it wont let my post the results themselves so I'll just say what it came up with.
Well My run ran under the performance of a common system.
I could run most of the graphics tests at around 40+ FPS until action got really intense and the frames just dropped to about 25. What was really disturbing was the proccessor tests. During either test I never reached above 4 fps and I averaged at about 2. I highly doubt this is normal, anyone have an idea why?
P.S. The resolution of the run was at 1280 x 1024 when I usually run at 1680 x 1050.
EDIT: Just ran another benchmark if someone could help me interpret results that would be amazazazing.
SM 2.0 score: 5510
SM 3.0 Score : 6940
CPU Score: 4601
3d MARK score: 14780
