Windows cannot log your local profile

Hello,
I installed Windows installer 3.1 on XP SP2 and when restarting, I used the same account information to log on, but it created a new profile in Documents and Settings folder therefore I was unable to retrieve all my files from the previous profile. Please help somehow to retrieve my files..

Take ownership of folders/files.
