Is the PII 955 compatible with the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H ?

Gigabyte webstite only shows up to the 940 so I'm wondering if the 955 will work.

If so, will I have to update the BIOS?

Yes a AM3 processor will work on a AM2+ mobo but you must use DDR2.

If you want to use DDR3 and have the best upgradability, you need a AM3 motherboard.

it should be, AM3 and isnt the 940 a am2+? well i tihnk someone had a similar question, if you go to gigabyte you should be able to scroll down to the am3 capabilities or not. i ono to late to check =p sleepy but yea should be
