I have an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and want to upgrade my cpu and video card. Should I upgrade just my cpu and video card, if this is possible with current motherboard, or get all new motherboard, cpu, with the video card?? I am going to use my pc for recreational use such as watching videos, movies, and some gaming!!

You can up your performance even more by upgrading to a AMD XP 2800+ processor main difference is the L2 cache size is 512 MB vs the 256MB on the XP 2000+. That extra L2 cache will help out alot in the 3D graphics area and that is my next step in upgrading my machine. Those AMD 2800+ can be had on ebay for around 30 bux.
I have the same M/B & processor in my gaming machine. I run a Nivida 7600GT AGP card....
I would also suggest having at least 1GB ram memory in your PC for gaming...
