ThinkPad R40 Screen Will Not Light up

Hello,
Since Fri., Nov. 4, my laptop screen went black but the power light remained on. When I turned computer off and then back on, all the lights came on at the bottom of the screen, but went off in a couple of seconds, but the power light remained on. This happens each time, leaving the screen completely black. What is my solution?

Hook up a monitor if you have adaptor to do so.

Send the unit back if still under warranty.

R40 is pretty old, backlight is probably dead on it. Use an external monitor with it as above, if the motherboard or video card are OK, you'll be able to use it as a desktop PC. Not worth repairing the screen on this thing.
