I have a Radeon HD 3850. I want to know what is the best Core 2 duo / Core 2 quad to pair it up with ? I don't want to just pair up the fastest cpu I can afford, I'd like to pair it up with a cpu that will ensure that neither the cpu nor the 3850 is bottlenecking the other. Any idea's ?
a c 235 U Graphics card
a c 105 à CPUs

the 3850 is far from state of the art and most current duel core CPUs will bottle-neck it easily.

Your best bet would be a used AMD athlon x 2 4000 series or Intel duel core e2000/e4000 series in order to prevent a bottleneck.

Current CPU you can buy now would be Intel duel core e5000 series or AMD Kuma series

Thanks for the advice ! I'll probably swing for an e6300 wolfdale. It's an imperfect balance I know, but I accept that I can't balance it perfectly, but this should be alright for the money !

A wise choice. That CPU is reasonably matched with the 3850. The silver lining in a system that's a bit CPU heavy is that when performance starts to be lackluster, it's easier to reduce the GPU workload than it is to reduce the CPU workload.
