How does one become website moderator?

Just out of curiousity, I want to know how does one become a website moderator? Is it only the Toms hardware team, or can anyone who wants to become one? Thx.

You have to be invited to become one, not just because you want to be. Usually it's based on your contributions to the site.

Can you remind me on how to become a community reporter? Didn't we have to email someone?

That I don't remember, I was asked to join by one of the moderators in a PM.
  6. You can become a reporter by contributing to the site. Others will recognize you for your work and give you that title. It is merely a title to give credit where credit is due.
  7. That's how i became a moderator.First i was invited to be CR , then after a few months i was promoted to moderator.
  8. How come hang-the-9's title is black and riser's is blue? :heink:
  9. Might have been a carry over from the olden days. Once, I was a moderator but in the switch up of things I fell through the cracks.

Also, in your user info, why does it say joined Jan 01, 1970?

I asked that to, no-one was really sure about that.

    Me too!
  15. I invited hang-the-nine to be a CR because he was very active helping users in one area of the forums where there was a need and he has always been very positive.

Usually the mods keep a list of users they consider have merit and then we gather during the winter and summer solstice and come to agreement (universally) on the selection of new CR's , and CR's to be upgraded to Mods.

Joe then endorses the users selected and we then change their rights and offer them a bit of trg on the console.

riser's status is unusual as he was a mod who retired but still pops in to visit regularly and assist ... so as far as I am concerned he is still a mod.
