Does anyone know how much energy using their new ECO (1.35 V) RAM will save vs. 1.5V or 1.65 V RAM?

Is there something I am missing about this RAM:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (CL9 PC1866)

It's price seems out of line with the rest of the G.Skill Ripjaws lineup. For example:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (CL9 PC1333)

Finally,

Which of these RAM would I expect to perform better:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (CL9 PC1866)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (CL7 PC1600)

I'm not sure about the voltage discrepancies, if you could post some more info about that, I might be able to answer, and I'm also not sure about the pricing of the two kits, but between which kit would perform better, you'd want the DDR3 CL7; the lower timings in this case more than make up for the speed difference.

Oops sorry for the double post, hadn't figured out how to reply to your response at first.

Here's the newegg link for the low voltage RAM:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It's labeled eco friendly and uses 1.35 V.

Yes it will use less power, but it probably won't be that much less (probably less than 5 Watts difference, if that) so its up to you if you want to pay more for it. If your interested, you could get much greater power savings by undervolting your cpu.

Or by buying a really efficient power supply.
Like the Thermaltake TPG-650M Its certified 80PLUS GOLD (90.95 Efficiency rating) or the
Enermax EDM650AWT Its certfied 80 Plus Gold (91.05% Efficiency rating)

Thats an effective safe way to lower your power consumption.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not extremely interested in power savings per se. I was just curious because the cost difference for similar timings is about only $15, so I was wondering how quickly the power savings would make up the difference. It sounds like the answer is not very quickly.

The other consideration with the 1866 is that you'd have to be overclocking to get to that speed. (I'm assuming, though I obviously don't know what you're planning on using it with.) Of course depending on your system you may have to OC to get to 1600, too. Just not as much.

I don't know if you noticed but the 1600 CL7's are on sale for $80. They're $20 off, I think as part of New Egg's Black Friday sales. In mid-Sept. I paid $80 for 1600 CL9's, I think the CL7's were around $88 back then. DDR3 prices quickly went up and I haven't seen any of the G.Skill's as low as this sale price since then.

Thanks for pointing that out. At that price it was an easy decision to get the 1600 CL7's. :D

Enjoy 'em. Jealous of the price on some of these 'black friday' deals. But that's the breaks, I couldn't have made it another two months without putting my build together.
