I had some adware and spyware intruders that altered the
taskbar by launching blazefind search assistant in tasbar
on startup. I maneged to clean the PC with Spyferret and
Ad-aware 6, but now can't save neither taskbar nor quick
launch cutomized settings. How can I repair this?

Hi Dulce,

Line 164. Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Download and apply this VBS. Restart Windows and customize the QL again. See if the settings are retained on next boot. If that does not help, open Registry Editor and navigate to this location:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

In the right-pane, locate the value named "Userinit" and note down the value data (should be C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe, the correct value)

* If you see any other value there, post back with details and change the value data to:

C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe,

(Assuming Windows is installed in C:\ drive)

I had the same problem and thanks for the guidance. It
was line 99 on kellys-korner and it worked a treat. Many
thanks.

Liam,

Both are same. But the VBS (Line 164 is more effective as it restarts the Shell, what is needed)
