I have a Dell Inspirion 1525 and the dvd drive doesnt seem to work...first it doesnt open on its own we have to push the pin hole in...once it's open and we put a disk in it keeps saying to insert a disk...is there anything we can do or do we just need to get a new drive? If we need a new drive what drives are compatible with our computer...we want somehing we can use to burn cds and dvds. Thanks for your help! :hello:

If that's a laptop, which I think it is, your options are quite limited. you can pick up a replacement for a desktop drive cheaply, but laptop units are sort of custom-made.

If the machine is still in warranty, contact Dell and tell them to send you a new one post-haste. If it's out of warranty, you're going to have to buy one either from Dell or Ebay that is made for that specific model.

Anyone, is there a better solution?
