Harddrive from different computer

I recently dismantled an old hp pavilion 7915 desktop, and I was wondering if the harddrive would work in a gateway e1800, they are both windows Xp home edition and I was wondering if I would have to do anything to it to make it work with the gateway, or would I have to delete everything on it first?

I doubt it will. Besides do you really want all the old HP crap, not to mention all the other leftover junk on the other computer.

If you just want to use it as a data drive, you shouldn't have any problems.

i just plan on using it for extra storage space,figured since they're both the same age or so I may as well use the extra parts.

Since just using it for data, you will be fine. I would do a full format on the drive though to get rid of any data on the drive. this will also help weed out any bad sectors on the drive.
