Ok this may seem like a silly question but here it goes. I have the Gateway FHD2400 monitor which has a built in 4 port usb hub. Recently I went to a LAN party an lost the cable that would connect the hub to the computer. The cable was like a printer cable, type A on the end going to the computer and type B going to the hub. I was going to go buy a new one but I remembered that this cable had a hard cylindrical piece that was in line with the cable which I imagine has something to do with powering the USB hub (it would power and charge my iPod too). Do I need a special cable with this thing inline or will a normal A/B usb cable do? If I need this special one, where do I find one or at least what is its name so I can google it?

It's good that you noticed you had one, but I don't think you'll notice when you don't :)

Here's a bunch of cables:

Have you tried checking with Gateway to see if you can purchase a replacement??

Nice article twoboxer! I always had an idea that was what they were (after taking one off a mk1 Game Boy link lead), but never actually checked.
