Corsair DDR3 freezes up computer after voltage change

I recently finished my first build and everything's been running fine. I have 4GB or Corsair DDR3 dual channel and noticed my MSI GD65 mobo automatically sets them at 1333MHZ with 1.50V. Upon reading the factory specs I decided to change it to 1600MHZ and 1.65V. The computer has been freezing a lot since then and I had to change it back to the old setting. Am I doing something wrong to make the system unstable? Clearly I am a noob at this....

Did you also change the timings to 9-9-9-24?
