Win 7 64 bit won't recognize my ext hdd

Hello,
I just recently got a 1 TB Hitachi DESK LIFE STUDIO ext hdd and I plugged it into my computer but my computer won't recognize it. I already have 1 internal and another external drive if that matters. I tried looking for a driver but couldn't find one so I'm stumped on what to do. Any help would be nice.

does it work on another computer?
is it set for esata and you are using usb?
