In windows security center under firewall, when I click on "show me the firewalls on this computer" both windows firewall and a firewall program I have uninstalled show up. . any Ideas how to get rid of this? Its not in list of add and remove programs, its not listed in C:/program files, or in the windows install clean-up utility?

whats the software? if you still have the disk it may have a remove/uninstall function on it

no,its Verizon Internet Security Suite firewall, its provided from my ISP Verizon. and the're no help. I even tracked it to the software manufacterer and they cant help.

It's probably a line of text within a preferences file. Try searching for various preferences and settings documents, then search the document for the name of the program. Don't forget to backup the file before you tinker with it.

thanks for reply, could you be more specific about type of file to look for and where to look for it? I've searched drive for "verizon" and "security center' and deletd any references but still there. Out of curiosity, I also installed another free firewall program. when I clicked on "show firewalls on this computer" it said that new firewall was on and didnt show verizon at all. I then uninstalled the new program and it said verizon firewall was back!!? anybody got a plan B or C or???
