Asus Rampage Formula Worthy upgrade?

I have the ability to pick up the Asus Rampage Formula X48 for $150. My questions is whether it's worth it based on my current config. I am currently running the following:

Asus Striker Extreme (Nvidia 680i Chipset)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3 Ghz
4 MB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800
Sapphire 5850 Video Card
Western Digital Caviar Black 500 GB 7200 HD

I was thinking about this due to my recent purchase of the 5850 and my mobo being Nvidia Chipset. I know that shouldn't matter, and all is working but was thinking the Rampage would allow for Crossfire in the future if I decided. Not sure if there is something else as well that would make this a worthy upgrade. The board typically goes for over $200 so I think it's a good deal, however not sure if it would just be better to sit tight and save up to upgrade to a Core 5/7. Thoughts?

It basically comes down to how badly you want to Crossfire that HD 5850.

But that's a $450 investment (board and GPU) though I suspect by early next year the HD 5970's may retail for not much more than that ($500 - $550 range) and would be the better deal overall.
