I am sure you have all heard of the Seagate Momentus XT hybrid SSD/Hard drive. It seems like a good concept, but does it have only 4GB of memory? Seagate may think that 4GB is enough.
Would it be possible via software or a software + controller card combo to combine a discrete SSD and a traditional (or RAID) hard drive to create a hybrid drive?
I think an affordable 32 or 64GB SSD combined with a HDD would make a much better hybrid than Seagate's 4GB product, right? Maybe the hybrid interface could be built into a special SSD right next to a SandForce (or equal) controller. The SSD could have two SATA ports. One to connect to the mother board and one to connect to the slave HDD.
I am available for Beta testing should somebody wish to use my idea.d interface hardware could be built
