Asus "CPU fan error

My new Asus motherboard says in starting that "CPU fan error" And the CPUfan is really not working. I tried to connect it in motherboards CPUfan-slot and a Chassis1-slot, and the fan is not rolling, but when i put it in Chassis2 the fan starts to roll. Is my motherboard broken or what? I doublechecked all the powercables and updated the bios but the problem wont go away :/

Sounds like you blew a fan header.....is that a aftermarket fan ? IIRC, Asus MoBo fan headers, at least on enthusiasts boards, are rated at 2 amps.
